The visit to GBSIoT Hubr aimed to provide the students with practical insights into the ever-evolving world of technology.<\/p>\n<p>The session at GBSIoT covered various aspects of emerging technologies, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Role and Purpose<\/strong>: Understanding the roles and purposes of emerging technologies in the contemporary world.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terminology<\/strong>: Familiarizing themselves with the terminology associated with emerging technologies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Variety of Emerging Technologies<\/strong>: Exploring different categories of emerging technologies such as educational technology, information technology, nanotechnology, biotechnology, cognitive science, robotics, and artificial intelligence.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Historical Context<\/strong>: Studying the history and current trends of emerging technologies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Characteristics<\/strong>: Analysing the defining characteristics of emerging technologies and how they differ from established technologies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advantages and Risks<\/strong>: Examining the advantages and risks of emerging technologies, including efficiency gains, data security, ethical and legal concerns, and potential biases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Impact and Disruption<\/strong>: Exploring the impact of emerging technologies in comparison to disruptive technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1147671 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gbsiot.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2838-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"473\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gbsiot.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2838-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.gbsiot.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2838-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.gbsiot.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2838-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.gbsiot.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2838-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.gbsiot.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2838-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.gbsiot.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG_2838-270x203.jpg 270w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The visit went beyond theory and offered students a chance to work on practical aspects, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Needs Analysis<\/strong>: Conducting an analysis to understand end-user requirements<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prototype Development<\/strong>: Creating initial prototypes based on end-user needs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Iteration and Feedback:<\/strong> Continuously refining their prototypes based on user feedback and testing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Student and Staff Feedback:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One student mentioned, &#8220;The visit was well-organized, and I gained valuable knowledge.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Another student described GBSIoT Hub as &#8220;a conducive learning environment with a promising future.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>The feedback about student engagement was positive, with a comment that &#8220;student engagement was satisfactory.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>The visit to GBSIoT Hub was also noted to &#8220;encourage deeper learning and study.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This experience equipped the students with practical skills and a deeper understanding of emerging technologies. As the technological landscape evolves, this visit ensures that the next generation of computing and cybersecurity professionals are prepared to meet future challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Solihull College&#8217;s leadership in the GBSIoT partnership provides unique opportunities like this to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
