The WorldSkills UK Industry 4.0 National Finals 2024 brought together the brightest young minds to showcase their innovation, determination, and skills in tackling the challenges of today’s industry. Held in November, the event featured a judging panel that included Mairi Kerin, Operations Manager at the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Institute of Technology (GBSIoT), alongside Omid Teimoori and Marcin Regulski, Industry 4.0 International Training Manager.

GBSIoT, a hub of cutting-edge technical education and industry collaboration, is committed to equipping learners with the skills and knowledge necessary for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The finals saw outstanding performances from teams representing universities and colleges across the UK, including Middlesex University, Southern Regional College, The University of Sheffield, UTC Sheffield City Centre, and Manchester Metropolitan University. These teams tackled complex real-world challenges using Industry 4.0 technologies, demonstrating exceptional technical and problem-solving abilities.

Reflecting on her experience, Mairi Kerin shared:
“Attending the WorldSkills UK National Finals 2024 was a rare opportunity to step away from the Hub for the week. Thank you to Omid Teimoori and Didactic Services Ltd for inviting me to be part of the Industry 4.0 skills judging panel alongside International Trainer Marcin Regulski. Congratulations to all the medallists, and best of luck for Shanghai 2026!”

Omid Teimoori added:
“What a fantastic week! Watching competitors devise innovative solutions to demanding tasks was truly inspiring. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our academic and industry partners, who contributed their time and expertise to nurture these talents.”

GBSIoT’s involvement exemplifies the power of partnerships between academic institutions and industry leaders in fostering the next generation of innovators. With its state-of-the-art facilities and close ties to employers, GBSIoT is at the forefront of preparing learners for the rapidly evolving demands of Industry 4.0.

We wish the finalists luck for Shanghai 2026, where they will have the opportunity to shine on the global stage. The WorldSkills UK Industry 4.0 National Finals have truly set the bar for innovation and excellence, with GBSIoT proudly playing a key role in this inspiring journey.
