At GBSIoT, we are always looking for ways to inspire young people to explore the exciting possibilities of science, technology, engineering, and maths. This summer, we were delighted to support the Digital Innovators Summer Camps by lending out our LEGO® Spike Prime STEM kits free of charge.
The programme, delivered in partnership with Playground Games and the Millennium Point Trust, provided students with an unforgettable opportunity to get hands-on with technology, build essential skills, and gain a better understanding of the career paths within the gaming industry.
A Challenge with Scope for Creativity
Students were set a challenge with real ambition:
“Create a feature or an idea that makes Forza Horizon more appealing and inclusive.”
This deliberately broad brief encouraged students to think without limits, bringing their own experiences and perspectives into the mix. Over the course of the week, the groups were guided through activities designed to boost their confidence, resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
By the time they reached their final presentations, the students had not only developed imaginative ideas to make gaming more inclusive but also learned first-hand about the different roles that power a global games studio like Playground Games. This insight is particularly important in an industry that is still working to improve diversity and inclusion across its workforce.
